skip navigationIn this article we catch up with former Eastlake great, New York Yankee and UW Alum, Kyle Larsen, and current Eastlake star, Dom Miller. They were thrown a series of questions to give a glimpse into their experience at Eastlake High School, their favorite moments in baseball, and plenty more!
Trust the process… baseball is such a tough mental game that you must believe in yourself and your abilities even when things aren’t going you’re way. There will be some great days and some days you want to forget, but remain tough and trust the work you have put in and in the end that will carry you through the good times and the bad. Never too high, never too low!

Q: What years were you at Eastlake?
A: I went to Eastlake High School from 1999-2001.
Q: Did you play any other sports besides baseball?
A: Basketball.
Q: What is your most favorite baseball memory EVER?
A: One of the most fun as a coach, was taking a team of young new Eastside Catholic players, fresh off covid, and going 6-14 in the regular season, yet having them believe in what we preached all year about their ability and their belief in themselves, and having that come together and be a one hit away from a league championship, and making an improbable run to state. As a player was driving in both runs in a 2-1 win, to clinch back to back New York-Penn Championships in the last game I ever played, or breaking the UW career RBI record on a HR!
Q: Favorite teacher you had at Eastlake?
A: Mr. Spencer or Mr. Belcher.
Q: Most memorable day at Eastlake non-baseball related?
A: The big earthquake we had in I think it was 99’…..I was in the gym and will never forget the rafters shaking like they did.
Q: Best advice you could give a student-athlete at Eastlake?
A: Trust the process… baseball is such a tough mental game that you must believe in yourself and your abilities even when things aren’t going your way. There will be some great days and some days you want to forget, but remain tough and trust the work you have put in and in the end that will carry you through the good times and the bad. Never too high, never too low!
Q: If there is one thing you know now that you wish you would’ve known then at Eastlake, what would that be?
A: So many things…. I thought I had it all figured out back then, but little did I know, that I really knew nothing when it came to the game, the grind, and what it takes to compete at a high level. I’ve been in baseball my whole life, and I’m still learning daily things I wish I could have known back then.
Q: Do you know how many Wolves it takes to make a Pack?
A: No clue, but I know a group that buys in, and has the same will and beliefs is a scary thing to compete with. WSPS! (Answer: 4-9 Wolves make a Pack).
Q: If you could change a rule in baseball what would that be and why?
A: None… most perfect game on earth.
Q: Your number is retired here at Eastlake, who’s the best player you’ve ever played with or against?
A: Played with: Brett Gardner and Tim Lincecum. Played against: Evan Longoria or the handful of lefty side armers I could never hit…..
I want people to say that I made their days better whether on the field or off the field. Because having a positive impact on people is something important to me.
